This presentation is centered about President Calvin Coolidge. You can view the PowerPoint presentation by clicking on the link below. You need to click at the end of each slide’s performance in order to make it go on to the next slide. The beginning slide is the longest and you will need to click for the next slide at the end of the song. In order to start the slide show, you will need to click on the tab slide show and then start from beginning. If you do not have PowerPoint on your computer, you can still download a PowerPoint viewer from Microsoft.com for free.

This presentation could be used in various ways depending on your grade level. I have Kindergarten; therefore, I would use this presentation as a whole class discussion on various presidential aspects. The presentation has questions throughout that can be used with your students and allow them to get to know a little more about each other. You could use this at the beginning of the year to have students get to know their classmates. You could also wait until President’s Day and relate this presentation to what it means to be a President. If you had an older group, you could use this presentation as a guide to have students make their own PowerPoint presentation either as themselves or as President which would allow them to think critically. I chose Calvin Coolidge because I am related to him distantly in my family tree, you could have students pick a person from their family tree and create a PowerPoint Presentation on that person.

Tauni,

Wow! Calvin Coolidge for kindergartners :) All teachers, regardless of the grade, have to find a way to help students to connect with a topic, and you did a great job presenting content about Coolidge while simultaneously getting them to share aspects of their lives and think about the presidency. As you pointed out, your presentation could be used with multiple age groups, so I am sure others will benefit from it. Your slides are well organized and visually appealing. Nice work!

Tauni,
I think you did a great PowerPoint for kindergartners. Having the audio recording really helps them follow along. This way they can look at what you have on the slides and listen to it at the same time. I think you asked great questions that they will be able to make connections with. I am sure they will be excited to share their thoughts and answers
. I think you used great primary sources and encouraged students to use their critical thinking skills. I like that at the end you restated the main questions you wanted them to think about. Great Job! Tina
